Well, if you want to do it that way, it should be 2000 - 2004.

And on the other hand...do you think we have time for both packs? I don't see much of an advantage in splitting the packs up. I think just one collective pack of songs from 2000 - 2009 would be good enough, but that's me.

To be honest, unlike previous decade packs there isn't too much novelty (to me) to having a pack to celebrate the 00s. That would basically be like another Anything Goes with some songs shaven off. So one pack might be a better idea, to get to another contest more quickly. On the other hand, splitting it up into two packs may give it some character. Early 2000s hip-hop, for instance, is markedly different from late 2000s hip-hop (when "Yeah!" by Usher came in and got followed by "Get Low" by Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz, everything changed, though I think Yeah was 2004). Alternative rock probably saw a significant shift in style as well (as difficult as it is to characterize the genre). Unfortunately, early 2000s Nickelback is not much different from late 2000s Nickelback

The 00's decade did change quite a bit as it went on, to be honest. These are some of the most notable trends that I observed throughout its course:

- Emo/pop punk bands like Fallout Boy and Good Charlotte were really popular in the early and mid-00's, but it seriously feels like their popularity suddenly vanished later on. Rock fans seemed to just turn their attention to slower stuff like Coldplay, Daughtry, and the such.
- 2009 was when dance/electronic influences truly began to integrate more into mainstream pop, with albums such as Lady Gaga's The Fame and the Black Eyed Peas' The E.N.D.
- I personally think that rap & hip hop hit a serious low around 2005 - 2007, when the lyrical contaent was just completely mindless (Laffy Taffy and Chain Hang Low come into mind) and production values lacked the edge and refinement of older tracks. It's gotten better since, but it was honestly partly because of this that I turned my attention away from the American music scene and ultimately got into stuff like j-pop and eurobeat instead.
- Boybands were still popular in the first couple of years, but quickly faded after that.
- The first half of the decade (2000 - 2004) was honestly the far superior of the two to me. Songs in general were more melodic, better produced, and more interesting lyrically. I thought the rest of the decade was pretty dismal overall, aside from 2009, which was actually decent thanks to reasons I already mentioned.

To be honest it hasn't got much better over here. That said Eurovision musically peaked in 2006-9. 2010 looks pretty awful to be honest.

Yeah, what you basically talked about Infinity was pretty much an analogy of how dance music changed as well.
- Back in the glory days of 2000/2002 was the time when commercial trance was a high. These years I thought brought raw, melodic, class trance tunes such as the ones that were greatly put in the 2nd or so gen of DDR (MAX2 ftw). House music was definitely at its high standard as well.
- Mid 2003 was the time when trance was pretty much drifting away. There were some great tunes during this era, but not as much as before.
- Around 2004/2005, mainstream music started to get lazy as a whole . Even dance music, with its cheese spilling all over the place, but still was a guilt pleasure of music during my time. (See Call On Me).
- 2006/early 2008 IMO, was the lowest point of dance music, where you just couldn't get away with that annoying electro PYHUFD phase. More cheese came by as Basshunter ruins the dance charts.
- Late 2008 till now is pretty much mellow and nothing special. Unless if you notice how much dance music has broken into the main.. main platform of top 40 music (eg. Day N' Nite, the Crookers remix being popular here in Canada [go team goo :P] & Sexy Chick). Mainstream remixes became a huge deal as well. Sadly, I wanted to see more original dance tunes, but there's just not much of them till this day.

I would have to a agree with you on that one. There wasn't a whole lot of stuff that came out after 2004 that I really cared for.
