lol I guess this is all a difference in tastes.
I think it's pretty unfair to compare NAOKI's work from 7 years ago in MAX2 to his work now. Artists naturally change their styles, just as all of us change our simfile making styles, and you can't keep holding back to the past.
I do agree that NAOKI's newer songs aren't anything near as spectacular as his older songs, but that's just the way it is. It's like asking Sota Fujimori to make a comeback with another masterpiece like Look To The Sky, when you would already know that wouldn't work because of his obsession with the same hard bass beat and snare pattern he uses so often nowadays.
Sota can't nail traditional trance anymore, just like NAOKI can't pump out classic rave-house tunes one after another anymore. I guess it's sad if you think of it that way, but looking at both of their new, transformed styles, it really isn't much of a disapointment. Sota's new stuff is a little different, but refreshing and still fantastic, and NAOKI's stuff is way different, but still unique and each song has it's merits (although he seriously needs to get some better vocalists, sheesh).
About DMM, I finally got into a rut with that mode. It was fun for a lot of it, until the final board where all the songs were Level 9+ and one of them was yet another dreaded "FULL MARVELOUS COMBO!!" mission, or in otherwords, a "Go screw yourself and find another hobby!!" mission. Seriously, did Konami really expect their top consumers of the game to be robots when they focused so hard on trying to make this game as popular to the youngin's as possible with songs like Just Dance and Disturbia? It's just ridiculous.
One day....One day, I will get my first "FULL MARVELOUS COMBO!!", even if it ends up being Shine on Beginner. That I swear to. lol
